Free Fire, formerly known as Garena Free Fire, is a free-to-play battle royale game developed and published by Garena for Android and iOS. Released on December 8, 2017, it gained massive popularity and became the most downloaded mobile game worldwide in 2019.
By 2021 the game reported over 150 million daily active users and had surpassed $1 billion in lifetime revenue. As of February 2024, Free Fire had 100 million active users.
In September 2021 Garena launched Free Fire Max, an enhanced version with improved graphics, lighting and sound. The official annual esports event, the Free Fire World Series, set a record with a peak audience of over 5.4 million live viewers.
