The Thrillseekers

The Thrillseekers

Biography

The Thrillseekers is the main pseudonym of DJ and trance producer Steve Helstrip (born Steven Robin Helstrip). His career took off with the foundational hit Synaesthesia, created in a basic home studio. Signed by Neo Records in 1999, the track achieved massive success after Paul Van Dyk signed it to his label Vandit, provided a remix, and added vocals by Sheryl Dean, propelling it into the UK top 20 in 2001, making it a timeless classic.

Steve Helstrip developed several aliases and collaborations: En-Motion (tracks like “Truth” for Incentive), Insigma with Andy “Pulser” Perring (“Open Our Eyes”, “Avalon”), Rapid Eye with Tim Stark (“Never Going Back”), and Hydra. After “Synaesthesia”, he had another success with Dreaming of You. He then founded his own label, Adjusted Music, which reissued classics and signed new talents like Evolve and Deep Voices.

His style evolved towards deeper, house-oriented sounds, as heard on his remix for Evolve “Safe to Dream” or his 2006 single By Your Side featuring Gina Dootson. An active remixer, he has reworked tracks by artists such as Tiësto, Timo Maas, Sonique, and Chicane.

His DJ career began from a desire to understand how his productions worked in a mix. Represented by Connected DJs, he performed at prestigious clubs like Ministry of Sound, The Gallery, Gatecrasher, and Godskitchen, building a reputation for energetic sets and precise mixing, earning him a spot in the DJ Magazine Top 100. His influence, centered on emotive and melodic trance, has established him as an enduring figure in the global electronic scene.
