Biography


Temara Melek (born Temara Melek Ellinger on May 4, 1998) is an American singer and actress. She started singing at the age of four, and her family later relocated to California. Her mother is Tiffany Ellinger, and she has siblings Tarik Ellinger and Taylor Ellinger.
She attended Oak Park Independent High School, graduating one year early, then studied fashion design and merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
In music, she released her first music video in 2011 for Pour It On Sweet. In 2012 she put out an EP titled Main Attraction, which received a Los Angeles Music Awards nomination in the Pop Album of the Year category. Her debut single, Karma's Not Pretty, arrived in 2013 and was co-written with Cassadee Pope. The track reached No. 8 in the UK’s Most Watched Music Video charts and No. 10 in the VIVA online charts, and it earned her the Academia Music Award for Best Pop Song at the 2013 ceremony. The music video features Gregg Sulkin and Keegan Allen.
Following the attention around Karma's Not Pretty, Demi Lovato’s production staff selected her to appear as a guest at Lovato’s first live streamed concert in October 2013. In 2014 she took part in Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star talent search and provided vocals for Go With Your Heart by DJ Antoine and Mad Mark, a song that charted across several European countries including Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium.
She later released Fingerprints in 2015, with the music video premiered exclusively on RyanSeacrest.com, followed by Playing With Fire in 2017. In summer 2019 she began working with new songwriters and producers and released Privacy, and in 2020 she released Crash.
Alongside music, she has made cameos and guest appearances on TV series including Modern Family (2010), The Vampire Diaries (2017), Westworld (2018), and Legacies (2019).
