Biography
DJ Bobo, real name Peter René Cipiriano Baumann, is a Swiss artist born on January 5, 1968. Active in the electronic music scene, he is recognized as a singer, songwriter, dancer, rapper, and producer.
His music primarily falls into the eurodance genre, often blending female vocal parts with his own rapped verses. He achieved his first major success with the single Somebody Dance with Me, which samples the melody of Somebody's Watching Me.
Subsequently, he chained hits like Keep on Dancing, Take Control, Everybody, Let the Dream Come True, Love Is All Around, Freedom, Pray, What a Feeling and Chihuahua.
Between 1992 and 2007, he placed 27 singles in the Swiss and German charts. With approximately 14 million records sold worldwide, he released 12 studio albums and 34 singles.
He received ten World Music Awards as the best-selling Swiss artist and numerous Gold and Platinum certifications. Under the alias René Baumann, he uses a variation of his real name, while Chihuahua Party is another pseudonym related to his hit Chihuahua.
His popularity extended beyond Europe, reaching markets such as Canada, Asia, and South America.
