Chris Brown (known as Chris Brown) is the name behind the solo project; he works as a singer, dancer-choreographer, singer-songwriter, actor and director. Born 5 May 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia, he signed with Jive Records in 2004 and released his self-titled debut album in 2005, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum by the RIAA.
His first single, Run It!, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first artist since Diddy in 1997 to have a debut single top the chart.
By 2013 his cumulative sales were about 9 million albums and 35 million singles. His YouTube channel amassed nearly 3,500,000,000 views as of 30 December 2012 and ranked No. 9 worldwide; at a Today Show performance broadcast on NBC he gathered 18,000 fans, surpassing Lady Gaga.
Following media coverage of his assault case involving Rihanna, he announced via Twitter he would quit after releasing his sixth album X, but later reversed that decision. His fortune is estimated at around 50 million dollars and he owns 14 Burger King restaurants.
