Biography

JRDN is the stage name of Canadian artist Jordan Croucher, also known under the aliases Jrdn and JC. Initially a promising basketball player—good enough to play professionally in France—he ultimately chose to dedicate himself fully to music.

He began his music career by working with Halifax producer Trobiz and recording mixtapes with the groups N.E.P. and Triple Threat. His path took a major turn when he teamed up with award-winning artist and producer Classified (Luke Boyd), who produced his debut album No Dress Code in 2007.

The 13-track album spawned several successful singles, including Selfish Times, Feelin’ Fine, So Addicted, Won’t Let Go and It’s Raining. It earned him the CBC Galaxie Rising Star award, an East Coast Music Awards nomination, and an appearance on the CBC Television special Barenaked East Coast Music.

Touring across Canada with artists such as Maestro, he also opened for international icons including Ne-Yo, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Nas and Juelz Santana.

For his second album—fully embracing the name JRDN—he collaborated with Grammy-nominated Toronto production and songwriting team Kuya Productions, known for work with Nelly, Mase, Ginuwine, Jesse McCartney, Nicole Scherzinger and Akon.

Writing and recording the project took him to New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and various locations across Canada. He describes it as a fresh start, with a musical and lyrical direction distinct from his debut: while No Dress Code dealt with family and personal themes, the new album focuses more on relationships and the women in his life.

The lead single, U Can Have It All, was well received, and its music video draws inspiration from a surprise found in the 1971 video for Sugar Daddy. Another song he feels represents him particularly well is High Definition, which he considers a signature romantic ballad that puts a woman on a pedestal—almost a rite of passage for any R&B artist.
