Biography

Axel Benjamin Konrad, born on 2 February 1977 in Ingolstadt, Germany, is a German DJ and producer associated with “hands up” trance.

He discovered his passion for DJing at the age of 14 and began performing in 1993 in clubs in Munich. Influenced by Dutch house music, he released his first track, Keep Da Clubstyle, in 1998 under the pseudonym DJ Valium, in collaboration with Ole Wierk; the track reached the top of the German charts.

Soon after, he issued the maxi R.U.F.F. Beat under his own name, gaining growing recognition and receiving many requests for DJ sets and mixes. In December of the same year, he teamed up with singer Tanja Korb for the DJ Valium project and produced the single Go Right For, another success in Germany.

Alongside DJ Valium, in 1999 he founded the group Groove Coverage with DJ Novus, a hands up project in which he is deeply involved in studio work and production. He is also known as a member and producer of the techno/hands up projects Baracuda and Groove Coverage. He additionally created the techno project Teenagerz with Rob Mayth and has made numerous remixes.

Axel Konrad founded the label Suprime Record. Over his career he has used several pseudonyms, including Headquarter, D.A.T., Ran Dee, Pin Up, Age Pee (2) and Renegade:Masterz. He is also credited under name variants such as A. Conrad, Alex Conrad, Axel Conrad, or Konrad.
