Zara Larsson

Biography

Zara Maria Larsson, born 16 December 1997 in Stockholm, is a Swedish singer, songwriter and actress.

She first gained attention in 2008 by winning the second season of Talang (the Swedish Got Talent) at age ten.

Signed to TEN Music Group in 2012, she released her debut EP Introducing in 2013: the lead single Uncover reached number one across Scandinavia and was certified six times platinum in Sweden, while the EP went triple platinum.

Her debut album, 1, followed in 2014; she later signed with Epic Records in the United States to expand her international career.

Her second studio album, So Good, released in March 2017, was her international breakthrough and includes hits such as Lush Life (No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100), the emotional duet Never Forget You with Mnek, Girls Like with Tinie Tempah, Ain't My Fault and I Would Like. Blending upbeat electropop with assertive lyrics, the album sold over one million copies worldwide, topped charts across Europe and earned multiple platinum certifications.

Her third album, Poster Girl, released 5 March 2021, presents a more mature sound with introspective tracks like Love Me Land (co‑written with Nisha), Talk About Love featuring Young Thug and Ruin My Life; it debuted at number four in Sweden and was praised for its mix of vulnerability and dance‑pop energy.

Her fourth album, Venus, was released 9 February 2024 with a bolder Y2K aesthetic and songs such as the sensual Can't Tame Her, the euphoric collaboration On My Love with David Guetta (top 10 in more than twenty countries) and You Love Who You Love. Produced with a blend of electronic and R&B influences, it marks her creative evolution and achieved strong chart performances in Europe and beyond.

Her fifth studio album, Midnight Sun, launched 26 September 2025 via Sommer House and Epic Records, represents a bold move into dance‑pop. Notable tracks include Blue Moon, Girl's Girl, Hot & Sexy, The Ambition, Saturn's Return and the closer Puss Puss. The album received near‑universal critical acclaim (89/100 on Metacritic) for Larsson’s vocal maturity and sonic risks.

Midnight Sun reached number one in Sweden (her third No. 1), number ten in Norway, number three on the US Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and debuted at number 119 on the Billboard 200. Its longevity was driven by viral TikTok choreography that propelled the title track Midnight Sun into the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2026, accompanied by a chart return for Lush Life; the album also trended on TikTok.

In 2025 she opened for Tate McRae on the Miss Possessive Tour before launching her own Midnight Sun Tour, which continued into 2026.

The collaboration Stateside with PinkPantheress reached the top 50 in Sweden and the UK.

She is also internationally known for the collaborative single Symphony with Clean Bandit. On screen, she appears in the film A Part of You, released in 2024.
