Mellow Trax
Biography
Mellow Trax is the alias of German DJ and producer Christian Scharnweber (born 9 November 1972), also known by the names DJ Mellow-D, Chris Daniels, Christian Weber, Crystal Hammer, DJ D, Majestic and Novaya. The son of a record collector, he was immersed from childhood in the new records his father acquired, laying the foundation for his career.
He soon obtained his own turntables and a mixer, learning to mix records that his father did not master.
At 17 he became a DJ at a nightclub in his hometown and came into contact with Hamburg’s electronic music scene, trying to incorporate those sounds into his sets.
His popularity among local techno acts grew; his first mixed compilation, “Hard-Trance X-Plosion”, was a major success and was followed by further editions.
Gary D., a leading figure of Hamburg hardtrance, noticed his productions and spontaneously released one of his tracks on EDM Records, which gave him the opportunity to perform at the club “Devil Mania” alongside Gary D., where he moved from monthly support to weekly, and was later appointed resident DJ at the EFX-Club.
Booking requests quickly came in from northern Germany, then the rest of the country and abroad. In 1997 DJ Mellow-D and a few friends took over EDM Records, already known for its compilations, and he achieved real success with his own productions.
