Biography

Alessandra Watle Mele is a Norwegian-Italian artist, born on 5 September 2002 in the province of Savona, Italy. She began singing at a very young age and won her first music competition at six years old by performing the ABBA classic Dancing Queen. She grew up in Cisano sul Neva and took part in the “VB Factor” contest at age 12.

After graduating from secondary school in 2021, she moved to Norway to focus on her music career and studied at the Lillehammer Institute of Music Production and Industries (LIMPI).

In 2022 she participated in the seventh season of The Voice – Norges beste stemme. For her blind audition she performed I Will Pray (Pregherò) by Giorgia and Alicia Keys and joined coach Espen Lind’s team; she reached the live shows before being eliminated.

On 4 January 2023 she was announced as one of the contestants for Melodi Grand Prix 2023, Norway’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song Queen of Kings, which she said represents her experience as a bisexual person. She qualified from the first semi-final and ultimately won the competition on 4 February 2023, placing first with both the jury and the public.

Alessandra thus represented Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023: she opened the first semi-final on 9 May by performing first and qualified for the final by placing sixth. In the final on 13 May, where she performed 20th, she finished in a remarkable 5th place with 268 points.

Following this success, she embarked on a European tour titled “The Queen of King tour”, performing in around twenty countries, including France, where she played La Maroquinerie on 12 February 2024.
