The Oh!
Biography
The Oh! was founded by Phil Wilde and DJ Pedroh, with the voice of Edwige Veermeer completing the line-up.
DJ Pedroh is the owner and DJ of the The Oh! dance club in Gavere, which gave him a sharp sense of the trends on dance floors every weekend.
Phil Wilde is a well-known producer and songwriter in commercial dance, having worked with international artists such as 2 Unlimited, CB Milton and Def Dames Dope, and having produced remixes for groups like Soulsister and Technotronic.
Lead singer Edwige Veermeer is a Belgian artist born in Ghent, with Mauritian roots. Before The Oh! she already had experience in the scene, as a dancer for Timeshift and a singer for Candy. She also attempted a solo career under the name Ceejay with the single Now's The Time.
The group’s first single, Won't You Show Me The Way, became a genuine club success before entering Belgium’s Ultratop 30. The follow-up, Got To Be Free, marked their breakthrough by reaching No. 6 on the same chart, selling over 16,000 copies in Belgium.
Two more dance tracks followed: I'm On My Way and Forever In My Life. Their last single under this name was Eternity.
Afterwards, Edwige Veermeer resumed a solo career in 2002 under the pseudonym Edvika, with the single Once In A Lifetime.
The Oh!’s sound sits within mainstream electronic music, spanning commercial dance, Eurodance and vocal trance.
