Biography
Costi Ionita is a Romanian producer and singer born on 14 January 1978 in Constanța. A major and sometimes controversial figure in the Romanian music industry, he is often nicknamed “the King of cocktail music”. Encouraged by his parents and gifted at an early age, he devoted himself entirely to music from a young age.
He received a solid musical education and was awarded in 2000 as “Best-selling Producer of the Year” after selling more than 500,000 copies of his productions. He is also the founder and owner of the independent label Doctor Music and of DR. STUDIO, while simultaneously pursuing medical studies.
His goal is to produce positive music to bring happiness to listeners worldwide and to promote Romania internationally. He made history by becoming the first Romanian producer nominated for the Grammy Awards for the album “Summer in Kingston” by Shaggy, nominated in the category “Best Reggae Album” in 2012, an honor he regards as immense.
For that album, number one on iTunes in July 2011, Costi Ionita composed two tracks: Dame and Fired Up. He attended the Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on 12 February 2012.
