Solid Base
Biography
Solid Base is a Swedish–Norwegian eurodance group formed in Stockholm. The project was founded by producers Jonas Eriksson and Mattias Eliasson, its name inspired by a synthesizer sound.
The group originally consisted of singer Isabelle Heitman and rapper Thomas Nordin (alias Teo T). Isabelle Heitman, born in Oslo in 1972, moved to Sweden at age 10 and began her professional career in Gothenburg before joining the project on recommendation. Thomas Nordin, born in 1971, spent his youth in Africa and Asia before dedicating himself to the Stockholm music scene.
Their first single, Together, was released in 1994. The breakthrough came in early 1996 with the unexpected success of the single Mirror Mirror in Norway, which quickly spread to Finland and other European countries. This led to the release of their debut album, Finally, on 17 June 1996 in Norway, which also included the tracks You Never Know and Let It Be Sunshine.
Despite often negative reviews, the group achieved significant commercial success in Scandinavia and especially in Asia, their debut album selling over 85,000 copies in Japan. Three more albums followed: The Take Off (1998) featuring the track Come'n Get Me, Express (1999), Party Totale! (2001, released in Germany) and In Action (2002). A compilation, Greatest Hits, was released in 2004, marking the start of a long hiatus.
The project returned in 2014 with a new singer, Camilla Alvestad (born Henningsen, from the group Reset), replacing Isabelle Heitman, and with original rapper Thomas Nordin. The group often toured with Reset under the name Reset vs. Solid Base before reverting to the name Solid Base. A new single, Wet, was released on 16 September 2015.
The lineup underwent several lead singer changes after this return, notably Camilla Brinck (2015–2017), Veronika Färestål (2017–2018) and Jenny Redenkvist.
