Baby Bash
Biography
Baby Bash, born Ronald Ray Bryant on October 18, 1975, in Vallejo, California, is of Hispanic-Latino American descent, with a Mexican mother and an Anglo-American father. Both of his parents were incarcerated during his childhood, leading him to be raised by his grandparents and uncles, who exposed him to a wide variety of musical genres.
He initially aspired to a basketball career and played at Solana Junior College, but an ankle injury ended that path. He then began creating music in a friend’s recording studio. His career started with the Vallejo rap groups Potna Deuce and Latino Velvet. A decisive turn came when he moved to Houston, Texas, where he met rapper South Park Mexican and joined the collective Lone Star Ridaz, alongside another rapper from Vallejo, Merciless (also known as Funky Aztecs or Merc100Man). He also collaborated with the late Mac Dre.
His first solo album, *Savage Dreams*, was released in 2001 on the independent label Dope House Records. Its critical success earned him a contract with Universal Records that same year. He subsequently released the major label albums *Tha Smokin’ Nephew* (2003) and *Super Saucy* (2005). He is sometimes credited under the aliases Baby Beesh or Ron Bryant.
