Biography
Rosette, born Rosette Sharma, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actress, born on October 8, 1982, in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.
Her musical journey took off after participating in the Canadian TV show ‘PopStars – The One’, where she was selected from over one hundred thousand applicants. Although she did not win the competition, this experience launched her career.
She later found success with several singles. The song Crushed reached number one on Canadian radio charts for three weeks, even beating a major artist during the ‘Battle of the Beats’ on Vancouver’s The Beat 94.5. It also remained number one on the CanCon Top 40 charts for four weeks. Another single, UhOh, entered the national Top 10. The music videos for both songs received significant airplay on MuchMusic, Much More Music, and Punch Much.
Her work has been recognized with nominations and awards, including a Canadian Music Award (CMA) she won in 2007 as ‘Best New Pop Artist of the Year’. She was also nominated for a Juno Award in 2008.
On stage, Rosette has shared the bill with internationally renowned artists such as Rihanna and Akon at concerts across Canada. To develop her repertoire, she collaborated with influential figures in the music industry, including producer Timbaland, DJ/producer Ian Carey, and the band Sunlovers.
Among her more recent productions are the single Ditzy Girl, whose video sparked some controversy, and the track Fire, which was picked up by Universal Canada for national and international distribution. Her artistic activities regularly take her between Vancouver, Los Angeles, New York, and Miami.
Beyond music, Rosette is also dedicated to film and dance, expressing a positive life philosophy and the desire to convey good emotions through her songs.
