Biography
The name Jamie Dee corresponds to the artist Marina Restuccia, born in Rome on June 5, 1969.
She began her career as a backing vocalist and dancer for the Italian television channels Canale 5 and Rai. In 1991, she signed a contract with Flying Records and began collaborating with composer, lyricist, and remixer Frank Minoia, known for his work on projects like Latin Blood with Max Minoia.
Her first single, Burnin' Up, was released in 1991. The same year saw the release of the single Memories Memories, arranged and mixed by Roberto Perrante & Max ‘n’ Frank Minoia, featuring the vocals of Chrystal White. The following year came the single Two Time Baby.
In 1993, she collaborated with DJ Phil on his track Right & Wrong and contributed to the radio version of Don't Leave Me This Way with Sima. The single Freddy Don't Be Shy, written by F. Minoia and M. Restuccia, was produced and arranged by Max ‘N’ Frank Minoia. It included a Club Mix by Phil Clary And Paul Micioni, as well as a Dub Underground and a Trance Mix remixed by Maurizio Verbeni, Paolo Cimarelli, and Mirko Braida.
The next single, People (Everybody Needs Love), composed by Frank Minoia, was released in Germany on the Shift Music label. In 1994, Jamie Dee lent her voice to the JFM Project’s track The Power Of Love.
The excellent eurodance single So Good was released in Italy on X-Energy Records and licensed in Germany through ZYX. It was composed and written by Frank Minoia and Jamie. The same year, she provided vocals on Dreams and Daddy. Then came Dreaming Blue, written by F. Minoia and M. Restuccia.
The track U appears on the Japanese compilation *House Revolution Vol.48*. Three vinyl versions were produced by Marco Giola, Mauro Minieri, and Peter Micioni, while the 70s Mix was produced by Frank Minoia.
In 1996, her final single under this name, Get Ready, was released, produced by Fresh ‘N Funk with a Coco Deep Dub remixed by Claudio Coccoluto. She was also featured by PF Sound on the single I Still Haven't Found and recorded a cover of You Make Me So Hot, released in Sweden on Orange Rec.
Subsequently, Marina Restuccia changed her alias and continued her career under the name Marina Rei, moving towards soul and acid jazz with singles like Sola and Noi, as well as a self-titled album. She participated in the Sanremo Festival several times, notably in 1999 and in 2008 with Paola Turci on Il solito sesso. She left Virgin for BMG in 2002, contributed to the tribute to Franco Battiato *Voli imprevedibili* in 2004, and released the album *Al di là di questi anni* in 2007.
Under the pseudonym Jamie Dee, her musical style is associated with eurodance and italo dance. She is also known under the aliases Marina Rei, Marina Restuccia, and Marina Reggae, with name variations including J. D., Jaime Dee, Jaimee Dee, Jaimie Dee, Jamie, and Jamie D.
