Biography
Ysa Ferrer, born Yasmina Abdi, is a French singer, songwriter and actress born on June 4, 1972 in Oran, Algeria.
As a teenager, she worked for a local radio station in France before moving to Paris, where she landed a leading role in a popular TV series and also acted in films.
Her true passion being music, she worked on demos in her spare time and signed with Universal Music France in 1995.
Her first album, “D’essences naturelles”, was released the same year. It was followed in 1998 by “Kamikaze”, which contained her hit single Mes rêves.
She later released singles such as Mourir pour elles (EMI Records) and Made In Japan (East-West France).
She achieved major success with a dance version of the song Ederlezi by Goran Bregovic, which charted in the top 20 in Sweden and was widely popular in Eastern Europe, particularly in Germany and Russia.
In 2007, she founded her own production company, Lovarium Production, and began working independently.
Since then, she has released three singles: To bi or not to bi, On fait l'amour and Sens Interdit, taken from her third album “Imaginaire Pur”.
An author, composer and performer, Ysa Ferrer is sometimes called the French “Kylie Minogue”.
Her dance/electro style, which she calls “Pop Kosmic”, is very popular in France and Russia, particularly within the gay community where she is seen as an icon.
