Paola Peroni
Biography
Paola Peroni is an Italian DJ and producer. She began her DJ career in 1990 and her styles range from dance pop to hardcore. She is the co-founder of the label Intercool Edizioni Musicali.
Born in Brescia, she showed a strong passion for music from childhood. At age 14, she began taking piano lessons, then followed a music history course offered by the Italian Association of Disc Jockeys (AID). In 1991, her first major opportunity arose: the Genux club (now called Dehor) gave her the chance to work the console there, quickly making her one of the resident DJs.
She pursued her passion towards new choices and achievements with major productions, such as Step on and World of Confusion (both reaching number one in France), Every Day of My Life, Bang (number one in the Netherlands) and Coming. In 1995, she also began producing under the pseudonym Miss Groovy.
In 1998, thanks to her intuition, the phenomenon Bacon Popper was born, with the track Free selling 120,000 copies in France alone. Soon after, she found herself opening for Zucchero on his tour with her live set.
In 2002, she produced Acelerando with Ramirez, another hit entering the German and English charts. Joining the Media Records team, she then released Trip on the Moon (on the BXR label in Italy and Nukleuz in the UK), followed by Harem, a multi-ethnic record blending techno beats and Far Eastern sounds.
The project Kiper with The Land of Freedom was also born, the result of a collaboration with her friend and colleague Joy Kitikonti. She also collaborated with Gigi D'agostino on the tracks The power of love and Everybody Change under the name Officina Emotiva.
Among her many aliases are Miss Groovy, DJ Groovy, Akirè, Elektro Groovy and WP (3). She has performed in numerous clubs and raves across Europe, including at the Cotton Club in Venice, Mistery World in Amsterdam, Titan in France, Qlub Tempo in Holland, the Heineken Music Hall for X-Clusive, as well as events like Thunderdome in Italy or the Cassius Tour in Colombia.
Her journey is marked by discipline, boldness, and patience, qualities she considers essential to achieving her dreams. Her passion for music and her feelings have guided the rest of her artistic path.
