Biography
Stromae, born Paul Van Haver, is a Belgian musician, producer, singer, rapper and songwriter born on March 12, 1985 in Brussels.
His stage name, which means “Maestro” in French verlan slang, earned him international recognition from 2009 onwards with the hit Alors on danse, which became number one in over ten European countries.
Of Rwandan father and Belgian mother, he grew up in Laeken, Brussels. His work lies at the crossroads of several worlds, successfully blending elements of hip hop and electronic music.
His second album, *Racine carrée*, released in 2013, was a huge commercial success, selling several million copies worldwide and consolidating his place in the Francophone and international music scene.
