Aspen

Aspen

Biography

Aspen is the project name used by Bevan Smith to create electronic music.

Aspen’s music is influenced by 80s electro-pop and early material from the Warp and Rephlex labels from the early 90s.

The roots of the Involve sound lie in Bevan Smith’s original Involve project, which he calls Aspen – the name refers to the tree species, not the American ski resort.

The Aspen project is currently focused on working with live musicians, primarily drummers and guitarists, exploring the fusion of indie guitar music and electronica.

Bevan Smith took a break from creating Aspen music in 2001 to focus on collaborative efforts, including Over the Atlantic and Skallander, as well as the more guitar and song-oriented material of his alias Signer.

Aspen’s latest album, isn’t it about time you thought about something more than what makes you happy?, was released in 2007.

His other aliases also include Introverted Dancefloor.
