Superfunk
Biography
Superfunk is a funky house group originally from Marseille.
The project was initially composed of three members: Hamdi Hassen (aka Mike 303), Stéphane Bonan (aka Stephane B) and Fabrice Texier (aka Fafa Monteco).
The trio first gained recognition under the name Dealers De Funk with the hit track New Jersey.
They later released several dancefloor tracks on the Fiat Lux label, before publishing the album Hold Up in 2000. This album contained the original versions of tracks that became club classics, such as Last Dance, Lucky Star and The Young MC.
Shortly after, Fabrice Texier left the trio to focus on a solo DJ career and a new position at radio station RFM in Paris.
The duo formed by Stéphane Bonan and Hamdi Hassen then collaborated with Le Sascha under the name Superfunk Inc.
The project made a comeback in 2018, spurred by the revival of the Black Jack Records label for its 20th anniversary, with Stéphane Bonan as the main DJ.
Unfortunately, Stéphane Bonan passed away in August 2020, leaving Hamdi Hassen as the sole remaining member behind the Superfunk project.
