Biography

Michel Teló, born on 21 January 1981 in Medianeira (Paraná), is a Brazilian singer. He is also a songwriter, dancer, and musician (harmonica, guitar, accordion).

Although born in Paraná, he has lived in Mato Grosso do Sul since childhood. His parents, of Italian origin, ran a bakery, and he is the youngest of three children.

His father gave him an accordion when he was ten. Two years later, encouraged by those around him, he formed “Guri,” a traditional music group. In 1997 he joined Grupo Tradição and stayed for 11 years. With the group, he became known in Brazil through the hits Barquinho, O Caldeirão, Pra Sempre Minha Vida, A Brasileira and Eu Quero Você.

He then went solo in 2009 with the album Balada Sertaneja. His career gained international reach in 2011 thanks to the song Ai, Se eu te Pego.

He married Ana Carolina Lago in 2008; they separated in December 2011 after six years together, including three years of marriage. Since 2012, he has been in a relationship with Thaís Fersoza, a Brazilian telenovela actress. They married in 2014 and have two children: Melinda (born in 2016) and Teodoro (born in 2017).
