Kasino

Kasino

Biography

Kasino is a Brazilian dance group formed in 2003 by JAMM’ (Fabio Almeida, a.k.a. Mister Jam) and Ian Duarte. The project was built around singer Fher Cassini, with Ian Duarte and Fabianno handling keyboards and programming.

Their breakthrough came in 2005 after a Rede Globo commission to create a dance track for the character Sol (Deborah Secco) in the telenovela “América”: the single Can't Get Over became an instant hit, followed soon after by releases including Stay Tonight.

The success led to concerts, more singles (including “Shake It”, used as the theme for another network telenovela, “Páginas da Vida”), plus an album, a live DVD, two official tours, and countless appearances on variety shows—most notably a performance on “Sabadaço” that later went viral.

Between 2005 and 2007, Kasino toured Brazil from north to south with the “Light of Love” tour, which ran through to its conclusion in 2009.

After a split, the project was relaunched in 2014 with Fher Cassini, Ian Duarte and Carlos Cassino, who released the single So Free. The group then returned with new tracks and a show combining DJ sets, live synthesizers, vocals and image projections.

Beyond telenovelas, viral moments and compilation releases, the project is credited with influencing a new generation of Brazilian artists, including Vintage Culture, Dubdogz, Flakkë and Lazy Bear.
