Mousse T.
Biography
German producer and DJ Mousse T., born Mousse T. in Hagen on 2 October 1966, is based in Hanover. Of Turkish origin, he founded the label Peppermint Jam in 1994, a pioneering imprint known for energetic house and melodic acid jazz.
He reached international fame in the late 1990s with the house-garage hit Horny '98 (featuring vocals by Hot 'n' Juicy) and especially through his collaboration with Tom Jones on the 2000 pop hit Sex Bomb; these tracks dominated the charts and earned him an Ivor Novello Award and a Grammy nomination.
His career began in the relatively obscure group Fun Key B, where he played keyboards and experimented with synth-pop and funk sounds; at the same time he opened his own recording studio and started DJing on Hanover’s club scene.
Beyond his own productions, Mousse T. has accumulated many writing and production credits for other artists, working with figures such as Roy Ayers, Bootsy Collins, Randy Crawford, Byron Stingily and Andreya Triana.
He has released three studio albums: the first, *Gourmet de Funk* (2001), was entirely devoted to jazz; the second, *All Nite Madness* (2004), includes the single Is It 'Cos I'm Cool?, which entered the UK charts; his most recent album, *Where Is The Love*, came out in 2018.
In recent years he has also produced soundtracks for several German films, served as a judge on DSDS (the German version of *Got Talent*), and continued an intense remixing activity, putting his signature on tracks by Mike Dunn, Horse Meat Disco, Flight Facilities and Spiller.
As a DJ Mousse T. performs worldwide, with residencies for parties like Glitterbox, and has played at iconic venues and festivals such as Hï Ibiza, Cavo Paradiso in Mykonos, Amnesia Ibiza, Rex Club in Paris, the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Loveparade; he also performs live with his band.
Under various aliases and projects he has also been active as Afropeans, Raw Instinct, Mind Flavour and under his own name, Mustafa Gündogdu.
