Amanda Wilson
Biography
Amanda Wilson, full name Amanda Leigh Wilson, is a British singer primarily active in the house music scene.
She is best known as the voice of the electronic music duo Freemasons. Her collaboration with them led to several hits, notably the track Love On My Mind which reached number 11 on the UK charts in 2005. This piece incorporates vocal samples from Jackie Moore and lyrics inspired by Tina Turner. For this project, her own vocals were electronically pitch-shifted to blend with the samples used.
She also lent her voice to many other tracks on the Freemasons’ first album, *Shakedown*, as well as on their remix of Disco's Revenge, which earned her another UK Top 40 hit. Among her other notable collaborations is the single Keep This Fire Burning.
Her career began earlier when she performed the song When We Were In Love, which qualified for the semi-finals of the “Great British Song Contest” in 1998. Possessing a four-octave vocal range, her abilities have often been compared to those of Mariah Carey.
As a solo artist, she released the track Spin It Again in 2009. Her career is marked by numerous guest vocal appearances for various electronic music projects and producers.
