Biography
M People is a British dance group formed in 1990 in Manchester. The name of the group is derived from the first letter of the first name of its founder, Mike Pickering.
The original line-up included singer Heather Small, keyboardist Paul Heard, musician Mark Bell, and Andrew Lovell. The group achieved major success throughout the 1990s.
M People won the BRIT Award for ‘Best British Dance Act’ in 1994 and 1995. According to a Billboard chart list from December 2016, they are the 83rd most successful dance artist of all time.
Their discography includes the studio albums *Northern Soul* (1991), *Elegant Slumming* (1993), *Bizarre Fruit* (1994), *Bizarre Fruit II* (1995), and *Fresco* (1997). The group has sold over 11 million records worldwide.
