Bambee
Biography
Bambee is the stage name of Norwegian singer Desirée Hagman (born Sparre-Enger), a well-known figure in the bubblegum and eurodance scene.
The pseudonym “Bambee” was chosen as a reference to her big blue eyes, often compared to those of Disney’s famous fawn, Bambi. The spelling was altered to avoid any copyright issues.
Her music career began when a producer asked her to sing the chorus of a song, which led to her first single, Candy Girl. She then signed with the label Scandinavian Records.
Several of her tracks, such as Bumblebee and Cowgirl, became widely known thanks to their inclusion in the video game *Dance Dance Revolution* (DDR). Her music was also used in *Pump It Up: In The Groove 2*.
Behind Bambee’s songs is composer Linnea Handberg, also known as Miss Papaya. In collaboration with Honeycutt and Left Hand Productions, she wrote all of Bambee’s material, including the hits Bumble Bee and Spaceman.
A third album was planned, but the Bambee project was abandoned around 2001 when Linnea Handberg decided to pursue a solo pop career, believing bubblegum dance would fall out of fashion. No new material has been released since.
Before her music career, Desirée Hagman had stage experience, performing in musicals such as *The Sound of Music* and *Les Misérables*. She also worked for a national radio station and hosted media events like the Radio 1 Music Awards.
