Suntribe

Suntribe

Biography

Suntribe was an Estonian group made up of young students that represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev, Ukraine.

The original lineup was a quartet: Mari-Leen Kaselaan, Rebecca Kontus, Laura Põldvere and Jaanika Vilipo. They were later joined by a fifth member, Daana Ots.

To secure their place at Eurovision, the group won Eurolaul, the Estonian national selection. Their main rival proved to be one of their own members, Laura Põldvere, who competed as a solo artist with the song ‘Moonwalk’. Nonetheless, for the third consecutive year Estonian viewers favored girl bands and gave 10 583 votes to Suntribe’s song, Let's Get Loud, written by Sven Lõhmus, earning them the ticket to Kiev.

The song failed to qualify for the final in the semi-final in Kiev and the group split shortly after Eurovision 2005.
