Biography
Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr., known as Snoop Dogg, is a major figure in hip-hop, notably credited with popularizing G-funk and gangsta rap on the American West Coast.
His career made a striking start in 1992 through collaborations with Dr. Dre, appearing on the track Deep Cover and then on the album The Chronic with the hit Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang.
His debut solo album, Doggystyle (1993), produced by Dr. Dre, reached number one on the Billboard 200 and included the singles What's My Name? and Gin and Juice.
Over his career he has also used the aliases Snoop Lion, Snoopzilla and Tha Doggfather, occasionally exploring other musical worlds such as reggae with the album Reincarnated.
Among his many hits, the song Drop It Like It's Hot, in collaboration with Pharrell in 2004, became his first number one on the Billboard Hot 100. A prolific artist, he has released numerous studio albums including Tha Doggfather, R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece, Bush and more recently BODR after acquiring Death Row Records.
