DJ Mind-X
Biography
Bernese André Forrer, born on 29 September 1972, is best known under his stage name DJ Mind-X.
His DJ career began in 1990 in Bern. Fascinated by music and mixing—among others inspired by figures such as DJ Boumi B—he started organizing his own events. His talent led him to play at venues such as the Dreieck in Thun, and after meeting one of the founders of the organizer Inka Imperio, he began performing regularly at the Aarebar from 1993.
He is now regarded as one of Switzerland’s most in-demand DJs, appearing at most major events including Energy, Motion, Evolution, Goliath, Atlantis, Futurescope and Warcraft. He is also a resident DJ at leading clubs such as OXA in Zurich, GATE ONE in Bern, MAD in Lausanne and NACHTWERK in Thun, where he hosts his own concept, “Harem Nights”.
His international breakthrough came with the successful singles Nightingale and Never talk to Aliens, distributed by Overdose/EMI. Since then, he has performed regularly abroad, including at the Tarmcenter in Cologne, the X-tra in Koblenz, the Reaktor in Bühl, the Paramount Park in Frankfurt, the E.D. Elephant in Singen, Webster Hall in New York, the Shadow Lounge in Miami and Space in Ibiza, as well as in Norway, Spain, Israel, Austria, France and Italy.
Alongside his work as a DJ, Mind-X is an active producer. He released singles such as the remake Down Under 2002 (Harem/Zeitgeist), Voyage (Harem/Aqualoop), Colours, Oasis 2002 with Torsten Stenzel, Mindmachine, and On-y-va with DJ Tandu. He also delivered remixes for Rhythmic Bazzline by Yves Deruyter and Eternity by B-Voice.
His studio career has been shaped by key collaborations: from 1997 to 2000 with German producer Torsten Stenzel (Taucher, York, Sakin & Friends), with whom he—alongside DJ Buzz—produced the [song]Temple of Love[/song] / Fog Area anthem for Energy 1998. Since 2000, he has been working with trance producer Ralf Fridge (Komakino, Vectrex).
A passionate vinyl collector, he has built a collection of more than 11,500 records over the course of his career.
