Cartouche

Cartouche

Biography

Cartouche is a Belgian dance group active in the 1990s. The producer and main composer behind the project is Serge Ramaekers.

Serge Ramaekers, born on April 17, 1966, developed a passion for music at an early age. At six, he built an organ with his father’s help, already sensing the possibilities offered by synthesizers. With financial support from his family, he was able to develop his own home studio. He began his music career at 16 as a DJ—first mobile, then in well-known clubs such as the Highstreet, the Carre, or the Reflex—before gradually moving into composition and production.

Before Cartouche, Ramaekers was already producing for other projects, including T-Spoon (in collaboration with Dominic Sas) and Confetti's. Cartouche scored its first major success with the second, remixed version of Feel The Groove; the first version was a rap. Other notable tracks include Shame, composed by Luc Rigaux and Patrick Samoy (known as The Unity Mixers), and a cover of Running Up That Hill.
