Biography
Ayah Marar, whose real name is Laura Ayah Marar, is a Jordanian singer, songwriter, performer, radio host, and label owner based in the United Kingdom.
Born on 20 September 1980 in Amman to a Jordanian father and a Czech-Bulgarian mother, she spent most of her adolescence there before moving to London at the age of 18.
Her music career began in 2004 when she recorded the song Let Me Know in collaboration with Scottish producer Calvin Harris, whom she later worked with again on his new album.
She also provided the chorus vocals for Jack Peñate’s track Tonight's Today as well as his more recent single, Be The One.
Her influence extends into the drum and bass scene: she appeared on Fabio & Grooverider’s show on BBC Radio 1 and co-runs the respected label Lucky Devil Music.
Other artists such as Toddla T and Nextmen have requested her participation on their forthcoming albums.
Her single My Spy, released on 6 July, received strong rotation on MTV Arabia and on playlists across the Middle East.
Her musical influences are eclectic, ranging from Sam Cooke and DEEJAY FAMILY to Rage Against The Machine and Peter Tosh, shaping her rich, soul-inflected vocal style to which she adds her own bold touch.
