Alexia Phillips
Biography
Alexia Phillips (born Katherine Filippeos) is a professional musician and artist. She has studied music since the age of six, mastering piano, guitar, vocals, and flute. She pursued studies in guitar performance at the Royal Conservatory of Music and appeared in various classical guitar concerts. In parallel, she taught piano and guitar at her family’s music studio.
Her first studio experiences took place with her brother, producer and singer Chris Phillips. Together, they wrote and produced their first album in 1994, Always Thinking Of You, which achieved notable success in clubs and on radio in Canada and the United States.
Alexia Phillips also writes and produces for other artists. In 1995, she co-wrote and co-produced two hit singles for L'Il Suzy: When I Fall In Love and Now And Forever. That same year, a collaboration with her brother and singer-producer Adam Marano of the group Collage resulted in the album Marano/Phillips, which found success in the dance and freestyle market.
Among her most notable tracks is I Never Needed, released on Interhit Records. The song entered the Billboard Dance Charts as a “hot shot” and reached No. 34, while also hitting No. 1 on the American DMA Dance Chart and earning additional North American chart placements. Her follow-up single, Undercover Lover, also broke into various U.S. charts.
The track You made a strong impact on dance radio and charted in several Canadian rankings. Her self-written single My Boy became a hit, as did Forever, featured on the compilation Planet Freestyle Volume 3. In 1998, following this success, she returned with If You Leave Me Now, a duet with freestyle artist Stevie B.
In 1999, she began collaborating with the Italian remixers of Factory Team, leading to two singles licensed by Odeon records under the eurodance label SAIFAM 21st Century: Dance With Me and Can't Stop. The first was produced by Chris Phillips and Gus Phillips, and the second by Rachid and Ian.
She then worked on preparing her first solo album, intended to include her earlier hits as well as new material.
