Junia

Biography

Jacqueline Zebisch, born 18 June 1984 in Weimar, is a German singer and dancer known professionally as Ella Endlich. She began her career as a teenager under the pseudonym Junia.

Daughter of composer and producer Norbert Endlich, she signed her first contract with Columbia Records on 18 June 1998, her fourteenth birthday, which inspired the stage name Junia. Her recording career began in 1999 with the single ‘It’s Funny’, which reached number 17 in Germany and number 21 in Switzerland; she followed with ‘My Guy’ and ‘Who’s the Other Woman’ and released her debut album Junia in 2000.

At the same time she trained in musical theatre and appeared in numerous productions, including La Bohème and West Side Story at the Bregenzer Festspiele, and in musicals such as Grease, The Phantom of the Opera, Moulin Rouge! and Les Misérables between 2005 and 2009.

In 2009 she relaunched her singing career as Ella Endlich; her first single under that name, ‘Küss mich, halt mich, lieb mich’ — a cover from the film Tři oříšky pro Popelku — was a major success, reaching number 12 in Germany and earning a gold record. She then released the albums Da (2010), Meilenweit (2011) and Die süße Wahrheit (2014).

In 2016 she took part in the German national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Adrenalin’ from the album Träume auf Asphalt. The same year she joined the jury of the fifteenth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar alongside Dieter Bohlen, Mousse T. and Carolin Niemczyk. In 2019 she competed in the twelfth season of Let’s Dance, finishing as a finalist with partner Valentin Lusin.
