Katerine Avgoustakis

Katerine Avgoustakis (born Κατερίνα Αυγουστάκη) is a Belgian-Greek pop singer, born on 16 September 1983 in Maasmechelen.

She began her music career in 2002 as a member of the group Indiana, with whom she entered the national final to represent Belgium at Eurovision 2002 with the song Imitation Love, but without success.

In 2005, she won Star Academy in Flanders, earning a contract with Universal Music Belgium. Her debut single, New Day, released in July 2005 and written and produced by Regi Penxten & Filip Vandueren (the team behind Milk Inc.), reached #2 on the Belgian UltraTop 50 and was certified gold. She also received the TMF Flanders award for Best New National Artist for the track.

Her self-titled debut album, *Katerine*, was released on 14 November 2005 in Belgium. The second single, Here Come All the Boys, was delayed following her mother’s death and released in October 2005, becoming her first single also issued in the Netherlands.

In 2006, she won the first Belgian preselection for Eurosong 2006 with Watch Me Move, securing a place in the pre-final. The same year, she was nominated for three TMF Awards and won Best National Pop and Best National Female Artist.

The following singles, Take Me Home (with Watch Me Move as the B-side) and Catfight, were released in 2006 and were accompanied by music videos described as very strong.

In 2007, she took part in the Belgian TV show “Sterren op het Ijs”, finishing second. In May 2007, she released the single Live Wire, the first track from her upcoming second album.
