One-T

One-T

Biography

One-T is a French animated group created in 2000 by Eddy Gronfier and Thomas Pieds, with Eddy producing the music and Thomas responsible for the artwork and visuals.

The group first appeared in France in summer 2001 with the successful single Music Is The One-T ODC, ranked the 82nd best-selling single of the year, quickly followed by Bein' a Star.

They returned to the dance scene in summer 2003 with The Magic Key, which introduced the group’s best friend Cool-T as a rapper; the track became a hit, reaching number 9 in France and ranking as the 22nd best-selling single of 2003.

The success of The Magic Key spread to several European countries, including Germany and Poland; it reached number 5 in Austria and number 4 in Denmark.

The group’s first full album, The One-T ODC, was released in July 2003. Several singles followed, including the theme for Starsky & Hutch and Kamasutra (released in early 2005), but none matched the earlier hit, and the group remained largely considered a one-hit wonder across much of Europe.

The second studio album, The One-T’s ABC, was released in early 2006 as a digital-only album available on a few legal download sites such as iTunes, and was finally issued physically in 2007, achieving some success in France and elsewhere in Europe.

In July 2022, to mark the group’s 20th anniversary, The One-T ODC was remastered, and a video for the remastered The Magic Key, titled The Magic Key 2, was produced in collaboration with Boogie Fre$h.
