Biography

Jonas Erik Altberg, known by the stage name Basshunter, is a Swedish producer, singer, songwriter and disc jockey, born 22 December 1984 in Halmstad.

He began producing under that name in 2002 using the software Fruity Loops; his first albums, The Old Shit (2002) and The Bassmachine (2004), were initially released via his own website.

His career took a turn in April 2006 when he signed with Warner Music, leading to the release of the single Boten Anna, which became a number-one hit.

In 2007 he adapted one of his songs for the international market, resulting in the single Now You're Gone, which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart for five weeks.

The album Now You’re Gone: The Album was released in July 2008 and produced five singles: Now You're Gone, All I Ever Wanted, Angel in the Night, I Miss You and Walk on Water. Another single, I Promised Myself, appeared in November 2009.

In January 2010 Basshunter took part in the final season of the British reality show Celebrity Big Brother, reaching the final and finishing fourth.

The lead single from his fourth studio album, Saturday, was premiered on BBC Radio 1 in May 2010. His most recent single was released in 2023.
