Biography
With his classmate Ian Pooley, he was once dubbed a «Wunderkind» of German techno; he has become the disco house producer of the German music scene.
Despite commercial success, he has maintained a distinctive style, still showing his affinity for oldskool breakbeats and early Italian disco tracks; his classic sets in his hometown of Mainz are legendary among clubbers.
Recently he dropped the «DJ» prefix from his producer alias, so his more recent releases are generally credited simply as «Tonka». His real name is Thomas-René Gerlach.
