Muttonheads

Biography

Muttonheads, born Jérôme Tissot in 1976, is a DJ and producer of house and electro house based in Paris.

He has been surrounded by music since childhood: his parents introduced him to it and his father even set up a mini nightclub in the family basement, a trigger for his career. Unwilling to follow sheet music, he quickly left synthesizer lessons to focus on creating.

In the early 1990s he discovered 8-bit mono sampling on his Amiga 500 and produced around one hundred tracks on that computer. In 1996 he bought his first machine, a Groovebox MC-303, which he soon exchanged for a good sampler and small analog synthesizers.

His influences are numerous: mainly French electro, lots of disco and funk, with a slight preference for 1980s Italian disco. His first live — 40 minutes at the Divan du Monde in Paris on 23 May 2001 — remains a memorable experience for him.

In early 2004 he signed his first EP, To You, on Serial Records, which was successful. A second EP, Smashing Music, followed the same path. In 2005 the single I'll Be There became a hit and charted; the same year he collaborated with Mathieu Bouthier and Demon Ritchie as Serial Crew for the single Need U.

The future was meant to bring new original tracks, remixes, and an album planned for 2006.
