Biography
Toy-Box is a Danish pop group formed in Copenhagen on 31 December 1996. It consists of the singers Anila Mirza and Amir El-Falaki.
Anila Mirza, born 8 October 1974 in Hillerød, is of half-Pakistani, half-Persian descent on her mother’s side and Indian on her father’s. Amir El-Falaki was born 12 August 1973 in Copenhagen.
The group achieved success on the Scandinavian charts in 1999 with the bubblegum pop single Tarzan & Jane, from their debut album Fantastic, released in September 1999; the album also included The Sailor Song, Best Friend, Super-Duper-Man and Teddy-Bear.
A second album, Toyride, was released in 2001 and featured fan favorites such as Www.girl, Prince of Arabia and Wizard of Oz.
The group has since split: Amir El-Falaki works as a dance teacher, music video choreographer and coach of the F.C. Copenhagen cheerleading team, while Anila Mirza changed her name to Aneela and began a solo career.
