Baracuda
Biography
Baracuda is a German dance music project from the Suprime Records production house based in Ingolstadt, near Munich.
The project is produced by the team Axel Konrad and Ole Wierk. In live performances and videos the act is embodied by DJ Toby Sky (real name Tobias Lammer) on the decks and by singer Suny; Suny has collaborated with Axel Konrad and Ole Wierk since 2003.
The group’s first hit was the track Damn! (Remember The Time), which reached number 12 on the German charts and sold over 100,000 copies. Their own composition I Leave The World Today followed and helped raise their profile in other countries, including Japan and Canada.
After a break, the single Ass up was released in 2005; it reached number 3 on the German Dance Charts and became their biggest international success at the time, topping the ringtone charts in Poland, reaching number 3 on Norway’s official charts and number 5 in Finland.
In 2007 they released the dance track La Di Da. The following year the single I Will Love Again, a distinctive cover of the hit by Lara Fabian, became a major success in Germany, staying several weeks in the top 5 of the Download Charts.
In 2009 the single Where is the Love was released; it is a remake of the 2007 international hit by the band Nightwish, Amaranth, with different lyrics and dance elements replacing the original metal parts.
It should be noted that the name Baracuda is also used by an underground technoid project known for releases on the Hybrid Structure label and by a hip-hop artist.
