Samus Jay
Biography
Samus Jay is a DJ, producer and megamixer based in Melbourne. He began mixing in 1996 at student parties, steadily gaining prominence in nightclubs and underage events before turning to composition and music publishing.
Over the years he developed a talent for the megamix and a hybrid style that led him to perform at renowned Melbourne venues such as Silvers, QBH, Metro, Aqua Lounge, Aura Lounge, Vanilla Night Club, Hi‑Fi Bar & Lounge, Next Blue and Chasers, and to support charity events for the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne.
After leaving full‑time DJing he devoted his free time to producing megamixes and remixes, earning a reputation among many mixmasters worldwide. By the age of 23 he had already released numerous CDs on various international labels and was respected locally before gaining global recognition, notably in Germany, Denmark, the United States, Brazil and the Netherlands.
He has been interviewed on stations such as Swift Impulse, Essential Rhythm, In The Mix Radio, Club Cow, Hitz FM and Kix FM. In 2004 he signed with IAM Records to produce remixes; that same year one of the most anticipated urban megamixes, Deluxe 2004, was released as a tribute to the DJs behind the 2002 and 2003 versions.
His remix of Those Were The Days, featuring vocals by Mary Hopkin, reached the top 6 of the European charts. His most popular European release, The Ultimate 90’s Megamix, was listened to by over 3 million people, consolidating his reputation on the European mix scene and earning him an IAM INC award as one of Melbourne’s best megamixers.
